About the role
The MEP Assurance Manager (Rail) will be responsible for planning the assurance and certification strategy for the MEP Design and Construction Work Packages and agreeing the acceptance criteria with the client, enabling them and to accept that the requirements and design intent being delivered by the JV and its subcontractors meet the needs and objectives of the client.
The role is based in London working on a hybrid basis.
Duties & responsibilities
- To support the Assurance Director in the development and implementation of the Assurance Strategy, plans, processes and systems within the project.
- Contribute to the continued improvement of the assurance strategy, processes and systems for Design, Construction, Testing & Commissioning and Handover in collaboration with delivery teams, subject matter expert’s stakeholders and the employer.
- Provide narrative reports and metrics against KPI targets; progressive assurance activities; Certification and Sign off Status.
- Undertake activities as defined in the project Plans and Procedures in liaison with those delivering the works. The activities will include monitoring progress of works, reviewing deliverables for evidence of compliance, raising issues / non-conformances where appropriate and negotiating corrective actions with those responsible for the works.
- Coordinate the certification activities for work packages to gain L3 certification from the Employer
- Deliver assurance communications such as staff briefings and assurance awareness training.
- Creating the MEP assurance regime for the project.
Application of the assurance activity, particularly in regard to change, design configuration control and capturing of design decisions. - Engage with the MEP delivery team to capture or define acceptance criteria for design approval, demonstration of capability, acceptance of equipment and operability as appropriate.
- Support the Engagement with stakeholders to achieve the delivery of an efficient and effective assurance regime.
- Confirm and manage the MEP Design and assurance requirements with subcontractors/supply chain.
- Undertake requirements and assurance activities including leading reviews, collating evidence and providing progress reports of MEP team, sub-contractors, supply chain and consultants.
- Maintain procedures, competence levels and systems for assurance management as used by the project.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Attributes
Essential (minimum requirement for interview)
Chartered Engineer or significant experience of working at equivalent level in a project environment.
Experience of the application of MEP assurance processes, preferably in rail infrastructure / construction projects or equivalent.
Knowledge and experience of the regulatory environment and statutory obligations relating to rail infrastructure / construction projects or equivalent.
- Capable of developing plans and managing workload / activities and taking sole accountability for task delivery.
- Capable of working collaboratively and effectively with project delivery teams, management and the project leadership, clients, sub-contractors, regulatory bodies and other major stakeholders, credible in building relationships.
- Able to show resilience and tenacity whilst remaining adaptable and flexible when working under the pressure of tight deadlines and project change.
- High standard of verbal & written communication skills.
