Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 2.1 Bachelor Degree or Masters in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology or similar related subject.
- Minimum 7+ years experience in geotechnical engineering firm or similar company, preferably in Ireland.
- Member of Engineers Ireland or other relevant professional body
- Chartered Geologist or Engineer status or be on track to achieve this within the next 6 to 12 months.
- Experience of working within a geotechnical consultancy or contractor, preferably in Ireland.
- A strong working knowledge of Irish and UK ground conditions and ground investigation techniques and practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a large team.
- Ability to undertake and check geotechnical design drawings, calculations and analyses.
- Strong knowledge and experience in applying current design codes and guidance documents in ground engineering, geotechnical design, soil-structure interaction, earthworks, ground treatment, retaining structures, foundation design and slope design.
- Relevant experience, knowledge and skills of geotechnical engineering/geology principals and practice including planning and supervising ground investigations, completing geotechnical design, undertaking geotechnical reporting and preparation of contract drawings, specifications, and schedules in compliance with appropriate standards.
- Strong understanding of the principles of Eurocodes in geotechnical design.
- Committed to Continued Professional Development
- Full clean drivers license.
Desirable:
- MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology
- Good knowledge of Department for Infrastructure, Irish Rail and Transport Infrastructure Ireland design and reporting processes, and other statutory agencies.
- Knowledge of BIM and an understanding of core concepts and principles.
- Experience with tendering and identifying value engineering solutions is highly advantageous.
