With a growing pipeline of project-related works, EGIS is seeking an experienced candidate for the Associate Director - Design Manager based in London. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the UK Transportation sector.
Job description
Core responsibilities:
· Establish Egis’ international Engineering Design Centre (EDC) strategy and team management structure for Transportation in the UK
· Management of personnel within the project and international EDC team, including engineers, BIM managers, BIM coordinators, document controllers, and GIS specialists for production of engineering design deliverables
· Take a lead role in managing the design team in your discipline and managing all technical aspects related to interdisciplinary coordination
· Proactively review design documentation to ensure compliance to standard and requirements
· Review, evaluate and implement rail industry standards to ensure compliance of the engineering deliverables to the standards (quality)
· Brief the project / EDC team as necessary on standard updates,
· Be responsible for the consistency of the deliverables across all projects
· Plan and co-ordinate the activities of the design team (CAD, engineers, expert resources)
· Liaise with Client’s team for all related issues or decisions, represent teams in meetings, provide technical opinion or support whenever needed
Coordinate the Quality aspects of the sub-systems deliverables as per the project Quality Management plan principles
· Review and approve (wherever applicable) all deliverables, act as a technical control level across projects
· Maintain and develop competency of the team within your discipline, including:
· Competency assessment,
· Professional reviews,
· Training plan,
· Guidance and mentoring to junior team members, support the senior team in growing the technical capability of the discipline/business
· Support the senior team to implement efficient processes to manage system safety (including CDM, CSM-RA and interoperability), Verification and Validation (V&V) and system assurance
BIM Management & Development
· Define Egis’ BIM/Digital Strategy and establish our ISO 19650 accreditation for Transportation in the UK
· Define a BIM implementation plan and road map to reach BIM Level 2 to ISO1950 series (including programme)
· Ensure BIM processes and protocols for input data management and external deliverables / published documentation
· Produce BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and Digital Strategies
· Defines collaborative process and procedures (including 2D and 3D clash detection)
· Review tenant information to ensure accurate and consistent model information
· Ensure all data generated by Egis personnel meet individual project requirements set out in both Exchange Information requirements (EIR) and project BIM Execution Plans (BEP)
· Define approach to project modelling (2D - 3D), train, develop and support team members
· Manage coordination of the CAD/3D model and established agreed workflows
· Manage GIS / 3D modelling (phased plans) / schedule interfaces
Profile
Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Attributes
Essential:
Extensive experience in Engineering / Technical functions, with at least 5 years’ experience as a Design Manager / BIM Manager / Production Manager in major infrastructure/transportation projects.
Proven capability in managing design interfaces, integration processes and defining a projects Digital Strategy
Experience of working in an engineering production environment
A railway, transportation or construction background
A clear understanding of our multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stage gates
Good knowledge of UK design standards, such as Network Rail, HS2 and TfL
Experience of Implementing BIM Level 2 Accreditation / Certification to ISO 19650 within a Business Environment
Track record of mobilizing teams to ISO19650 on project kick offs
Experience producing and maintaining BEPs, Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDP), Master Information Delivery Plans (MIDP) and Model Production Delivery
YOU MUST HAVE THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK
Desirable:
BSc or similar in Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) in a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject
Chartered Engineer status from a recognised institution
Knowledge and understanding of rail engineering regulations (CDM, CSM, RIR)
Knowledge of Dynamo/similar, and ability to write scripts
